Andrew Cohen has seen and done very much as a musician and teacher. He is on a long and circuitous journey of self-realization and is continually working to unfold his life path as a performer and creative being. His goal as a teacher is to impart the message that your relationship and experience with music can look like a lot of things. It doesn’t usually happen as a straight line, and is not limited to any style or modality of learning or expression. The only limit is your feelings to connect with your instrument and your Music.
Andrew has a degree in Music Education and Instrumental Performance from the Hartt School of music. He has learned and performed in a myriad of styles ranging from Beethoven Sonatas and Rachmaninov Preludes to Balkan and Roma (Gypsy) folk and dance music. Andrew has been a full time public school music teacher as well as a repeat performer at Outside Lands and Burning Man. He continues to deepen his accordion practice, and is currently finishing his second album album of original music he composed in the Romanian “Lautareasca” style (2023).
